Easter seems to be a big deal in Europe. Markets are everywhere, hand-painted eggs sit on display, trees decorated. This is what my easter week with the family looked like upon my return to Switzerland.

Went to the zoo with my host fam, smashed at smash bros with my bros, and ate meat cooked at the table for dinner, 3 glasses of Bordeaux each with my host ma to accompany. Haven’t started my thesis but it was a damn good day, good to be home!

Thursday: drove 40 minutes with my family past lush, flower-filled hills with a panorama of mount blanc, to arrive in Annecy for a day of picnicking by the lake. The hot April sun, the light flush of red wine, slack-liners galore and napping in the grass to the sound of a man’s humming guitar. What a day in France!

Took a boat to Château de Chillon with my host family and explored the castle. Stopped by the waterfront in Lausanne and looked at the easter-egg mural being assembling, each egg a donation towards families of children with cancer. Drove home and had rotisserie chicken for dinner and watched the voice as a family at the table.

Easter lunch with the family. BBQ steaks, gruyère double cream with strawberries, La Colombia cake, an egg toss competition (toss the farthest without cracking), and of course, chocolate bunnies. Happy Easter!
